Little Dreamers Series Celebrates 40th Anniversary- Releases Audio Player

Little Dreamers Series, ORTV’s popular audio book series, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025. To mark this milestone, ORTV released a portable audio player in the shape of a gramophone to make the audio book series more accessible for children of this generation.

The first set of the series was produced in 1985, under the leadership of ORTV Founder Dr. Doris Brougham and ORTV Chairman Dr. Simon Hung. Helena Chiang, a Heavenly Melody vocalist at the time, was the producer and recorded the series on cassette tapes. The content was later converted into CDs when CDs became popular in the early 2000s. Well-known figures such as entertainer Sun Yue and Christian media personality Pastor Kou Shao-en participated in the project too. The audio drama, music, and well-written stories, many based on Bible stories, accompanied many kids throughout childhood, teaching them biblical truths and positive values.

HM Light singer Jack Kao shared that his family has always been devoted fans of the series. As children, he and his brother would listen to the audio series before falling asleep. Later, when Kao joined Heavnely Melody, he often used the series as a tool for children’s ministry by playing the stories for kids at church, helping them biblical truths and reacting the stories through puppet shows. Today, Kao is a father of two daughters. He shared that he used the book Doris’ Doll, based on the true story of Dr. Doris Brougham as a young girl, to teach his daughters to share their toys.

Chen Xing-ru, a longtime Sunday school teacher and a key developer of the audio player, explained that the device is designed to look like a gramophone, with no screen and no blue light emitted. This design ensures that children can listen to the player before bedtime without their sleep being disrupted.

We are thrilled to bring Little Dreamers Series to a new generation of children. May these stories teach and inspire many, many more children in the days to come.
