HM Holds Concert at Tainan’s Trinity Baptist Church

On May 26, Heavenly Melody held a Gospel concert at Tainan’s Trinity Baptist Church. The group performed a series of songs and shared touching personal testimonies. The concert was well-received, and many in the audience shared that they were deeply touched.

Tenor Johnny Wen shared about how God opened the door for him to join Heavenly Melody. During his junior year in university, he attended a Heavenly Melody new album release in his church. He was amazed that Christian music could be so diverse. When he heard the song “God’s Way”, he prayed that he could one day join the group. He is grateful that God answered his prayer, and he has been part of Heavenly Melody for the past 26 years.

Wen also shared that when he was writing the song “Be Brave”, his father suffered a stroke, and passed away a year later. His wife also became pregnant with their first child during the SARS epidemic. Since his wife was a nurse, he was worried about his wife and unborn baby’s health, as she needed to continue caring for patients in the hospital. “Be Brave” helped his family continue to trust God during a trying time and has helped many friends overcome their difficulties as well. Heavenly Melody tenor and preacher Jason Lin also shared his testimony. His older sister passed away of cancer last August after years of alcoholism. Several of his close elderly relatives have also passed away in the past few years. Moreover, his mother is battling cancer caused by long years of alcoholism. These events left Lin feeling depressed and unable to focus on God.

Lin preached from the book of Habakkuk, and emphasized that despite Habakkuk’s complaints to God, he was able to shift his perspective and turn his focus back to God. "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights." (Habakkuk 3:17-19)

Lin concluded that in the face of suffering, God is refining us, and though the process is painful, we must humble ourselves and repent. He encouraged everyone to find prayer partners, to not lose heart in prayer, because God answers prayer.
