Taipei Mayor Chiang and Brougham Promote Taipei Culture Awards Together

Taipei Mayor Wayne Chiang visited Studio Classroom recently to meet Dr. Doris Brougham and film a promotional video for the Taipei Culture Awards together. Each year, Taipei’s Department of Cultural Affairs holds the Taipei Culture Awards to recognize individuals and organizations that have made major contributions to Taipei’s culture. Dr. Doris Brougham was a winner of the 25th Taipei Culture Awards in 2021. She received the award for her contributions to Taiwan in English education and music over the span of 70 years. Brougham is a longtime resident of Taipei and the headquarters of the non-profit organization she founded, Overseas Radio & Television, Inc., is in Taipei.

Mayor Chiang and Brougham had a wonderful time filming a promotional video inviting the public to nominate exemplary individuals who have made major contributions to Taipei in the cultural realm. Mayor Chiang shared that he studied English using Studio Classroom magazines when he was a student at Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School many years ago. The mayor shared that he is still learning how to be a superb dad as his wife recently gave birth to their third child. Brougham played trumpet for the mayor and encouraged him to “Never Give Up” when faced with challenges and adversity.
