From December 13 to 20, Doris Brougham,
Hazel Johansen, Rachel Sawatzky, Steve Marth
and Heavenly Melody held large evangelistic
meetings in seven cities across Taiwan.
Approximately 20,000 attended these 12 meetings.
720 made decisions to accept Christ, and
1450 were interested in hearing more about
the Gospel. This year's meetings, entitled
JOY, combined Heavenly Melody performances
in English, Chinese, and aboriginal languages.
Audiences participated through sing-a-longs
and warm-up games. Special guests included
Mayor Hsu of Tainan and Mayor Yeh of Kaohsiung.
Heavenly Melody singer Pastor Wesley Hsu
gave a testimony about how faith in Jesus
brought peace and joy to his father, the
son of a deaf and mute. Wesley's father
later attended Bible school and was taught
by Doris. Doris' story of preaching to the
aboriginals, Wesley's testimony, and Heavenly
Melody songs introduced the true meaning
of Christmas, a celebration of the birth
of Jesus bringing the gift of eternal life,
true peace and joy, to the audiences. Local
churches are helping with the follow-up
work, and we pray that the seeds of the
Gospel that have been planted will be harvested.
