On December 9, ORTV's Executive Director
Dr. Simon Hung represented ORTV at the press
conference for the soap opera Autumn
Tide, which debuts in Taiwan on GOODTV,
the Chinese Christian station, on December
12. Previously aired in China, this is the
first time Autumn Tide will be
shown in Taiwan. Dr. Simon Hung and Alex
Wu, the Director of TV Productions at ORTV,
produced this 30-episode series in China.
Written by Golden Bell Award Mai-hua Xia,
Autumn Tide depicts an everyday
man facing the struggles of life. A Christian,
Xia says that her stories ¡§come from the
heart.¡¨ The cast includes Chinese actors
Zai-pei Lin, Li Niu, Tong-su Yang, and Kuan
Yan. A story of love, forgiveness, and grace,
we hope Autumn Tide will touch
the hearts of those who watch it.
Plot Summary
Actor Shao-qi Huang plays the part of Kai-ping
Lei. Kai-ping was adopted by a pastor's
family and grew up as a smart and happy
child. Although he was capable, fair, intelligent
and self-motivated, for 20 years he was
consumed by a desire to bring down Jiang-hao
Guan (played by Zai-pei Lin), the man who
had hurt his mother. As he faces this inner
struggle, Kai-ping realizes that his continual
hatred and bitterness will eventually cause
him to lose the love of his life, Xiao-qiu
Zhu, played by Li Niu.
Jiang-hao Guan has a beautiful daughter,
Chun-mei Guan (played by Tong-su Yang),
who fell in love with Zi-li Zhuang (played
by Kuan Yan) and married him against strong
opposition from her family. Her father's
continuing interference and financial pressures
proved to be too much for their marriage,
but their love continues to burn for each
other.
