Vision Launch Accessible
English Program |

Studio Classroom
and World Vision formally
announced their collaboration
to bring English to the
disadvantaged throughout
Taiwan.

The two organizations will
recruit volunteers to undergo
English teacher training
before being assigned to
World Vision offices around
the island to teach English.
The goal is to teach over
900 disadvantaged students
throughout Taiwan.

ˇ§We hope to open a window
to the world for disadvantaged
children through this collaboration
with Studio Classroom,ˇ¨
said Hank Du, Executive
Director of World Vision-Taiwan.

Since English is such an
important skill, parents
have a great desire for
their children to learn
the language. However, many
children in Aboriginal and
low-income areas do not
have the opportunity to
learn English or attend
a bushiban (cram school).
These children are then
at a disadvantage when entering
schools with children who
have been learning English
for several years.

Studio Classroom
Executive Director, Simon
Hung, said, ˇ§We hope that
we will spread love as well
as English education.ˇ¨

Both organizations are seeking
English-speaking volunteers
who are interested in children's
education. The expatriate
community is also being
encouraged to participate.

Teacher training will be
conducted on May 1 and 2
in Taipei, after which each
volunteer will be sent to
their local World Vision
center to begin teaching.
Volunteer teachers will
be instructing elementary
school students in one of
43 different centers, using
materials provided by Studio
Classroom. Studio
Classroom teachers
will lead the Teacher Training
Program.
