Chinese New Year Evangelistic Concerts in Singapore

This year, Singapore was the place to be for an unforgettable Chinese New Year celebration! The two-day event, held at Singapore's Expo Hall, featured Heavenly Melody and celebrities like Taiwanese pop star David Tao. In the past 10 years, ORTV, along with 100 Singaporean churches, has produced five of these large-scale concerts.

This year's theme was "Lovingkindness Overflowing¡XCelebrating an Abundant New Year." The two-day event was divided into four sessions. The first two sessions targeted youth, the third-session was family-focused, and the final session appealed to workers from Mainland China. One Singaporean who attended the Sunday afternoon concert said, "The testimonies shared were powerful and the performances were of very high standard. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the concert; it was very exhilarating."

At least 16,000 people attended the four sessions. The youth concert, held on Saturday, had over 5,000 people. The concertgoers were very enthusiastic about seeing famous artists like TV actor Sun Yue, Erhu player Shu Zhan, saxophonist Xiao Dong Shan, and, of course, pop star David Tao. "I was impressed with David's heart for the young people," said Heavenly Melody singer Daniel Hsieh. "He was very friendly."

Many people were touched by the performances, and over 200 people prayed to receive Christ as their Savior during the two days. An additional 300 requested more information about God. The churches involved will follow up with those who made decisions.

In addition to the four big concerts, Heavenly Melody performed at two schools and in one church. "It was a tight schedule," said Daniel, "but we had a wonderful response and enjoyed our time with the Singaporean people."
