This
year marks the fifth anniversary of
Studio Classroom in China since
we began our joint venture with the
Ji-Lin Science and Technology Publishing
House in 1998. ORTV directors Doris
Brougham and Simon Hung led a team of
six staff members to Mainland China
November 3-7 to celebrate the anniversary
along with conducting other business.
At a
press conference in Changchun, the director
of the Culture Department affirmed the
contribution that Studio Classroom has
made to the lives of Chinese people.
A senior high school student gave an
eloquent speech sharing that one year
of studying Studio Classroom has not
only enabled her to gain confidence
in using English to communicate with
foreigners, but also rewarded her with
several English speaking contest awards.
In addition
to Changchun, Doris, Simon and the
staff visited Beijing and Shanghai.
It was encouraging to see that China
has been making progress in many areas,
and the people are motivated to learn
English and to be a part of the international
community. It is our prayer that the
Lord will use the English teaching
programs not only to help the people
in China understand the world around
them, but also introduce to them good
and eternal values.
