Studio Classroom/ Shih Chien University to Cooperate on EMI Courses

In line with the government’s Bilingual Taiwan 2030 policy, Shih Chien University is adopting English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) in its university. On September 28, Studio Classroom and Shih Chien University signed a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation on EMI.

Shih Chien University Chairman of the Board Shieh Mungshiung, President Ting Pinshou, Vice-President Tony Kuo, Chief Secretary Li Changxian, Education Development Center Director Lin Zhicheng visited Studio Classroom.

President Ding stated Shih Jian University is happy to work together with Studio Classroom on implementing EMI as he hopes EMI will help raise the university’s English level and help it become more international.

Vice President Kuo shared he was thrilled to meet Studio Classroom Founder Dr. Doris Brougham as he started attending Studio Classroom’s English Bible Study when he was 16 years old. He also used Studio Classroom magazines as teaching material when he was Director of Shih Chien University’s Applied Languages Department in the past. He stated: “Studio Classroom resources are not only useful for learning English, it can change readers’ lives. I found that among my students, readers of Studio Classroom especially like to help others.”

Studio Classroom Executive Director Daniel Hsieh responded: “Each year, Studio Classroom holds English rallies in schools around the island combining English, music, and character education. Through our events, we hope to help students develop positive mindsets to embrace life with enthusiasm and hope. This is what our founder Dr. Brougham has been doing for the 70 years.”
